An Assortment of the current news
for Fandom in the Pacific Northwest

For better or worse, Fox appears to be developing a stateside version of the Torchwood franchise. If you are not aware of this series you are missing something. A spinoff of Doctor Who it can be found on BBC-America or past years on HDNet in full HD. The good news is that the same people that developed on BBC seem to be involved here, including Russel Davies, and Captain Jack aka John Barrowman. You can read more by following the link to hollywoodreporter.com. However, though the change might posit a more global venue for the story line some of us would regret that it does not have a welsh mentality and locality as well. However, just have to wait seem what develops with this.

Jason Momoa Cast as Conan the Barbarian!

In additional media related news Jason Momoa otherwise better known as Ronon Dex "the character that Momoa is most well known for playing from four of the five seasons of Stargate: Atlantis and the upcoming film, Stargate: Extinction." Check out Screenrant's article on the new movie. If anyone could make Conan look good, this actor might be it.

PorSFiS or the Portland Science Fiction Society maintains an open mailing list for people in the region interested in all aspects of science fiction, fantasy and fandom. You do not need to be a member of PorSFis to be a member of the mailing list. Check their mailing list web site for details.
Blogs and Boards
Here you will find links to as many blogs and community bulletin boards in the northwest as it is possible for us to find. These include those for northwest fandom in all its diversity and changing patterns, whether relating to conventions, clubs, writers, writing and authorship, anime and much much more. Check out what we have and feel free to suggest addition possibilities. At the start the links may be a bit sparse, but rest assured that they will grow with your help and dilligent research on our end.
General Northwest Science Fiction Blogs and Communities
    • First among equals I invite all those visiting here to visit Sfnorthwest The Blog This is a general thoughts and reflections type of blog that will run the gambit from the web designer's perspective on changes at sfnorthwest.org as a web site, the technical aspects of that, reviews of books, series, conventions and more and anything else that comes to mind that might be of interest or might strike a chord with those visiting.

    Blogs from Northwest Fannish
    Clubs and Organizations
The existing NWSFS or Northwest Science Fiction Society blogs can be found below. So far there are three.

    Convention and Convention News Blogs
    Comics Blogs and Communities

    • Peter Whitney's Comic Corner is a readers only comics blog hosted on the Seattle PI Web site.

    • Between the Staples describes itself as " this used to be Robert J. Parizek’s little blog but now it is Just Another of Those F@#$%King Comic Book Blog. The main focus is on comic book rants, review, news and such but also has entertainment news" Sounds ineteresting and looks interesting. Well worth a check out.
