Bookstores, Comics, Artwork, Audio, Video, Toys and Collectibles
    • Action Figures XPress is much as that name might sound like. They, to quote, " pecialize in exclusive and limited edition collectibles, action figures, toys, and more!" You can also check out their facebook presence for more information.
    • Amazon.com ,of course, is the excellent example of a now growing phenomena of the virtual bookstore. Others have followed, but Amazon was there first and is the biggest and the most complete.
    • Adventure Books is a small press publishing science fiction in hardback and paperback in six-by-nine inch format. They publish illustrated books almost exclusively and are known for exceptional cover and interior images. The Adventure Books website was named a 'recommended resource' for science fiction in 2005 by writersdigest.com
    • The Australian Online Bookstore is a great place to order Australian titles that cannot be had anywhere here in the states. They also have a personal touch in the process of ordering that is refreshing.
    • B. Brown & Associates is a North Seattle venue that describes themselves as "Specializing in Science Fiction, Fantasy, Supernatural, Mysteries, 1st Editions. Buys, sells, trades primarily uncommon or out-of-print hardback and limited editions. Great store for tracking down hard-to-find books."
    • Bradford Exchange I include because some of the items are genre, but I make no claims about price or quality. Check out a variety of areas including Star Trek, Disney and more. The link starts you out in the Star Trek area, but do searches and/or links from the menu and as always Caveat Emptor aka buyer beware, but you may find something you've been looking for and something you cannot live without :-) The Facebook ad that alerted their existence highlighted a Star Trek Express Illuminated Train Collection.
    • Crave: Transformers is a Transformers site where you have the option of both buying and/or selling transformer items or participate in a community.
    • Closed Circle is an online place for all things Lynn Abbey, C.J.Cherryh and Jane Fancher. It is bookstore, bumper stickers, jewelry and much much more sold directly from the authors to you. Well worth a look if you are as much a fan of these artists as I am. Oh, and check out their facebook presence for Closed Circle.
    • Columbia House DVD Club's Star Trek page is a teaser to try to get you into their club, but I include for those so interested and competent enough to not to get caught up by the fine print.
    • Couth Buzzard Books They describe themselves as follows "For twenty years Couth Buzzard Used Books had one of North Seatte's largest and most extensive Science Fiction collections. We lost our lease in 2008, but--Good News--We have just re-opened our doors. 8310 Greenwood Ave. North. Seattle, 98103 206 436-2960. We are looking to re-build our Science Fiction collection.     • Comics Keep is a comics and game shop serving Kitsap County. If you are located in the Bremerton area of Washington state this could be the shop for you.
    • Comic Stop is a local comic book venue with locations in Lynnwood, Everett and Redmond. They also have a facebook presence.
    • ComparetheDalek.com is all things Doctor Who from Blue Ray/DVD to Trading Cards to all things other relating to our favorite time lord. The site sets about comparing best prices on a variety of items from a variety of sources. Note that this is a UK site and prices are quoted in Pounds and consideration should probably be made for shipping details.
    • Dragons Lair Comics and Fantasy is a Bellevue chapter of this comic and gaming store. It has just recently opened in the northwest.
    • Eternal Press is not strictly genre, but has a variety of fantasy titles among its fair that range from young adult to hard core with warnings of 18 or older. I include it, as always, without any judgment or recommendation.
    • Dr. Tongues Toys Portland, Oregon based web retailer devoted towards collectible toys. You can also find out more on their facebook site.
    • The Elliot Bay Bookstore is an awesome experience all by itself whatever its location in Seattle, but it also happens to be the place where the Clarion West Readings were held in the past years.
    • Everett Comics is an Everett located vendor of comic and other appropriate fannish paraphenalia. Also check out their facebook page for additional information.
    • Gilded Age Records is all things musical for the 19th century whether Victorian or presumably Steam Punk. Check out and see what artists are represented and if it might be of interest.
    • Killiandrake is at present a facebook page highlighted an artist with self described steam punk artwork.
    • Lady Jayne's Books is now a virtual store. Check out there site to see where they will be popping up next on the convention circuit and also check out their ebay offerings. This long time perennial of fannish dealers deserves a definite look see.
    • New Zone Books describes iteself as being 'an online bookstore featuring the lowest book prices, book reviews and secure online shopping.'
    • MechMuse Audio Magazine are a new source of stories and novels by award-winning authors of Science Fiction and Fantasy in MP3 format.
    • Powell's Bookstore is virtually a legend in the Pacific Northwest as one of the largest new and used bookstores in the northwest. Located in the Portland, Oregon, it is an undeniably must do experience especially if you make Orycon. Also, for those techies in the audience they have a Technical Bookstore that is impressive to say the least.
    • Quantum Mechanix Inc. is to quote them "a boutique developer of screen-accurate replicas, collectibles, apparel and artwork inspired by entertainment’s most beloved shows and movies. We focus on serving the most demanding customers – from dedicated fans to the industry’s most prestigious production companies and studios – with the most detailed and accurate products possible." Their latest coup is to secure the rights to a do a line of Warehouse 13 communicators and other props and prints.
    • Sideshow Collectibles has a wealth of genre collectible figurines. If this is your passion this could be a good place to look.
    • The folks at the Science Fact & Fiction Concatenation describe themselves as enjoying providing "a broad diet of SF. We have written a book (Essential SF) that aims to introduce newcomers to SF or those with a single interest in the genre to have an introduction too the genre's wider landscape. One of the reasons for doing this is that the age of those attending UK SF (book and also film) conventions seems to be getting older. I do not know if this is also true in the States, but we thought that a resource (however imperfect (which it will be if small)) was needed hence this venture. "
    • SCA musci for the ride to Pensic is how the facebook add let to the CDBaby site for Ravenboy Music with such appropriate cds as Welcome to the Current Middle Ages and a variety of potentially interesting Celtic oriented tunes.
    • ScifiCafe is an ebay store of science fiction collectibles largely star trek in nature describing it as A Doohan Family store. It came to our attention through a facebook ad.
    • Sci-Fan Bookstore is an online Amazon.com affiliate bookstore for science fiction fans.
    • Star Trek FanFare Cafe Press Store with T-Shirts, Trekker gear and much more
    • Star Trek Yardsellr Community is a facebook presence for Star Trek memorabilia. In their own words " Yardsellr believes that people are natural born buyers and sellers. In the tradition of neighborhood garage- and yard-sales, we make it easy for you to list and sell, or find and buy whatever you want. Best of all, the buying and selling is done by regular people like you. That means you get great prices from folks you can trust within your network or within a friend's network."
    • Steam Magazine is a new publication for those interested in Steam Punk literature and articles.
    • Studio Foglio is the Online store for Phil and Kaja Foglio, Hugo Award-winning artists of the "Girl Genius" gaslamp fantasy series, Magic: The Gathering cards, and many other products.
    • Stylin Online via their facebook info page describe themselves as " one of the largest retailers of licensed comic books, movie, TV, video game, music and pop culture t-shirts, sweatshirts, belt buckles and pop culture apparel for men, women, teens, juniors, and kids." T-shirts may lean it towards clothing or costuming, but the rest best falls here. Ratings lists such as Yahoo list it is as having an excellent review from customers, but as always caveat emptor.
    • Suvudu.com is forum, free library of books, manga, video and more and a thoroughly interesting site. It also has links to where you can purchase the latest and greatest. And, of course, it is a forum. Only had a short time to check it out, but it is definitely interesting. And will be back. This one partially defies description. I drop this link here, but will add to somewhere on fannish resources as well.
    • Transformers Sales is just as it sounds, a source for collectible transformer and decepticoms collectible items.
    • Urban Collector is a Saint Paul, Minneapolis store that specializes in " all things Comic Book, Science Fiction and Entertainment related - especially focusing on the collector's market" and has an extensive online presence with an attractive vendor web site. You can also find out more about them on their facebook precense.
    • Ugly Gerbil is the etsy shop home of among other unique items "amigurumi Cthulhu Babies, Sock Monkeys, Sock Bunnies, Sock Narwhals, and many other spiffy thing"
    • The University Bookstore Homepage is one of the best stocked science fiction sections in the region. Well worth a visit.
    • White Dwarf Books is located in Vancouver, British Columbia, and has an extensive selection and friendly staff. At least, so was my impression from my one visit there.
    • Wrigley-Cross Books is another Portland bookstore with both new and used books.
    • Yesterdays Best Handcrafted Cards & Gifts or its facebook page give an opportunity for items that might be of interest to steam punk fandom. Definitely nineteenth century fair of cards and other items that might fill the bill in a complete personae or costume.

    Bookstore List Sites

    • For a master list that stretches across the nation you might want to visit The Master List of comic book dealers and other genre outlets. This is a straight forward search site with excellent content. If you want to do a search for your particular region, city and state, this is an excellent choice.
Video/Media
(SF and Anime)
    • Anime Cafe is intent on becoming the pre-eminent review site of anime. It perhaps could be a useful resources for those wishing to discover this sometimes arcane realm of Japanese animation and more.
    • Anime Raku is located in Bellevue. From the web site you can check out their growing inventory of anime resources at their new location.
    • The Fantasy Films Worlds is where you can find many movie related products, including purchase of a movie about the life and work of George Pal whose movie greats include War of the World, Destination Moon and many other pioneering science fiction movies.
    • Just Be Complex is Portland Oregon based store devoted to the latest in Anime, Art, Books, Clothing, Comics, Magazines, Models, & Toys straight from Japan.
    • Kicks Hobby Japan This store is "selling the latest in anime, models, and import Japanese video games. Located by Northgate Mall in North Seattle"
    • Sean's Anime & Other Things Sean is a Tacoma, Washington based retailer who sells Anime related merchandise, mainly at Conventions and through this website.
    • Sakura Media describe in the title of their web site to include 'Japanese animation, art books, sound tracks, J-pop and more' . Based out of Vancouver, they appear to be a good site to check for anime and other needs.
    • Scarecrow Videos is one of the old standards as far as video stores in the Seattle area, but it is also a good resource for information about obscure DVDs and anime. Of course, it has all the other titles that any video/DVD rental store might have as well.
    • Very Cool Things They describe themselves as their goal being to "provide fanboys and girls a central point of reference for all things cool. We will point you to the best places to buy Cool Things; let you review, compare, and discuss manufacturers, products, and stores; and even sell some of the Coolest of the Cool at very low prices. Also, because Japanese pop culture is cool, we are creating a section devoted to the language and interests of the average Japanese otaku." They draw from Otaku enthusiasts from Seattle and Salt Lake City by their own admission.

Costuming and Armor, Jewelry, Accessories, body art,
Genre Clothing and theathrical presentations
    • Abacus Props and Costumes rents and sells authentic production made and used costumes and props. For most fans this will probably be a purchase situation, but check their web site and see what is of interest. Possible items include star trek and other genre items. You can also check out their facebook presence.
    • Avonos Productions L.L.C. is an online vendor of Star Trek and Battlestar Galactica uniforms and insignia pins as well as a straightforward and attractive web site.
    • Bustle Dress Marketplace has an extensive steampunk aka Victorian inventory that might be a resource for those vying to be the best costumed steam punker. Their about me page elaborates by saying the favorite eras are the Victorian and Edwardian era, but the propritress sells Regency through 1920's items, many of which have been featured in movies such as "Sea Biscuit, "Titanic"and "Henry and June." Check them out and see if their hoops, bustles and other costume features are what you have book looking for. They also have a bustle Dress Contest each year. You can check out the winners for last year to see what kind of items were submitted.
    • Chainmail Depot is a vendor for a wide variety of chainmail faire, including as they describe " We  currently carry mostly coifs and hauberks, . We carry steelaluminum, and brass finishes for our chain mail."
    • Chainmail & More describes its salable items to be "Chainmail jewelryunusual gothicbelly dancebody chains, & renaissance wear" Well worth a look and see. Any site that includes chainmail bakinis cannot be all bad :-)
    • The Costume Gallery is a portal site for finding a broad range of web sites dealing with costuming. You can also find out more via their facebook page
    • Fun with Bead Patterns and Designs is just as it sounds, patterns for creating all manner of different beaded projects. You might also check out their facebook presence for additional info.
    • Dragonfly Design Studios is a compendium of online resources for costumes, jewelry and other that you might want to consider. In a recent visit I also found two additional sites that they maintain for their products: Old Fashion Halloween and The Mourning Sampler
    • Crimson Heart Studio is a tatoo and piercing venue located in a retail setting in Federal Way. While not specifically fannish, it could be a possible useful site for those interested in such body art and modifications.
    • Crown Jewels has a wide variety of hand crafted pieces that might be of interest.
    • Chrono Hoard is an etsy sale site for steampunk jewelry. Check it out and see if this is something for you.
    • Dental Distortions is the place for those desiring vampire fangs or other bodily distortions that make that special look or costume that you working on.
    • Dharma Rose has a wealth of items with interest to fandom including dark fantasy T-shirts, jewelry, bean bears and much more.
    • Dragon Crest Market is sort of a potpouri of items not exclusively to costuming. Includes a variety of dragon items, unicorn items and more. Also, visit their facebook presence for more info.
    • Dress Like A Pirate is a phenomenal site for all manner of different costuming needs including steam punk, pirate, bucaneer, victorian, burlesque and more. Also, check out their facebook page for other details and notifications.
    • Exotic Clothes is a mixture of ready to wear clothing/costumes and jewelry. While not necessarily local to the northwest, they have extensive online shopping venues. Check them out.
    • Faerie Fingers describes itself as "making costumes professionally since 1997 and has gained a wide range of skills in that time. Whether the ensemble is clean and simple or flamboyant and ornate, the first priority is to provide people with beautifully well made costumes that make them look and feel like a million."
    • Gentleman's Emporium is a source of Victorian and Eduardian costumes that is based out of San Jose, California, but has an exemplary online layout for those in need of steampunk accessories. Also, check out their facebook presence. Also, check out their steampunk emporium page specifically set aside aside for steampunk enthusiasts.
    • The Goth Rosary describes itself as 'Offering custom made rosaries and rosary items at far less than you'd expect for handmade goods! PLUS newly added items of Amusement: Flasks, Clergy Wear, Leather bags, Pill/Stash Boxes, and the "Goth & Go" Kit!'
    • Halloween 2036 is an information site to research costuming choices that you can buy at buycostumes.com . I include this as a possible choice for costuming accessories without any further recommendation.
    • High Tactical Corsets is exactly what it sounds like and an amazing site to go along with it. For those into corsets or high function high fashion with milspec pouches and buckles this is the costume accessory site for you.
    • Kiss Me Fashions may not be exclusively genre, but has definite inroads into certain portions of fannish costuming choices. This site gives you a wide range of lingerie possibilities that might be part of your costuming ensamble. You can also visit them on facebook or learn more about them from their about me page.
    • Jezebel - A Purple Affair is an etsy merchant site for a small set of offerings including jewelry and clothing with purple in their theme.
    • Laughing Moon Mercantile is purveyor of sewing patterns, clothing and accessories, with a special emphasis on Victorian balls, Dickens Faires and a host of others. For the costumers in the audience with obvious interest for those into Victoriana and Steam Punk fair, this may be a site for you.
    • Magical Fashions is a source for " belly dance costumes from saris, banjara cholis, skirts, salwar-kameez, lehnga, cholis, jewelry, hand bags, home decor and other bellydance accessories" Not specifically fannish, but potentially a source for certain costuming needs that make this a site of interest.     • Museum Replicas is a wide ranging group of reproductions for sale including weapons, costuming, jewelry and more. For additional information check out their facebook presence.
    • Over to the Dark Side Etsy Store is a range of goth and other items that might be used in a steampunk ensamble.
    • Penny Dreadful describe themselves as an "Atlanta based group of artists including special fx, costuming and metal working, creating steampunk gear and more!" Also check out their facebook presence for additional information.
    • Pointy Eared Artisan is a site selling masks, bags, pouches, archery stuff and other great products. Last was quoted from their page. Take a look and see if anything is useful for your costuming goals.
    • Ravenswood Leathers is an Oregon based vendor of bodices, dresses, archery supplies and much much more. You can also find out more by visiting their facebook or myspace presence.
    • RetroScope Fashions is a vendor of Elegance Above All including Women's Clothing, Parasols, Pettycoats/Bloomers and much more that might fill the bill for your steampunk trunk of costuming needs. And you can find still more out on their facebook presence.
    • Rings and Things has a wealth of different kinds of jewelry and accessories availability through their online store while being a northwest store as in Spokane, Washington. You can also find out more about what is available through their facebook presence
    • Renaissance Yarns is a Kent, Washington located shop that describes itself as "a family owned yarn boutique offering a wide variety of classes, hand dyed, natural and luxury yarns to the hand knitter, crocheter and spinner." Check out their facebook presence for additional information.
    • Satyr Forge describes itself as being 'functional art for the passionate adult' and warns that it is appropriate for those 18 and older. These include collars, whips and more. In the latest visit there is only an email contact on the web page.
    • Seams Like Magik by maryJane is a source for custom designed renaissance and medieval clothing.
    • Seattle Knights are a live action, live steel and equestrian group that do a variety of shows at various events as well as television and movies, including Sleepless in Seattle, Northern Exposure and more. They also 'teach historical performance fighting techniques for a variety of weapons as well as hand-to-hand combat'. Check their web site for details.
    • Silver Dragon's Cavern is a Colorado based purveyor of costuming items they describe to include " home for custom made dice bags, belt pouches, and chain mail jewelry" Also, check out their facebook presence to content them for more information.
    • Springtime Creations - Jewelry from the Wormhole to You - Spring Schoenhuth has a wide range of jewelry, this and that and t-shirts for your perusal. Check out her web site and see what she has available for you.
    • Steamporium is an online vendor of steampunk and Victorian themed gifts. While not specifically costuming, should be of interest.
    • Steampunk Threads is much as it sounds, a wide range of costuming options for those seeking to augment their opportunities for new and inventive costuming for your next steampunk outing.
    • Therion Arms International is an Austin area, Texas, located purveyer of arms, swords, armor and a range of other items that will be of interest to those interested in recreating past historical eras. Also, check out their facebook presence for additional information.
    • To Arms - Historic Replica Guns describe themselves as presenting "a great selection of historic replica non-firing guns, framed collections, historic gifts, military collectibles, blank firing guns and black powder guns." For those into historic re-enactments this might be of interest. Also, check out their facebook presence for additional info.
    • SCA Community is an online portal that describes itself as its goal " to centralize a location for those in the SCA to interact, learn different trades and be able to buy and sell period goods online." As such it is community, vendor and more. For those interested in the Society of Creative Anacronisms this could be a good connection. Certainly, it has a home here as well as on Clubs and Organizations.
    • The Tudor Shop provides clothing and other items including among other things jewelry and more for those wishing to reproduce the period (1485-1603). Whether for SCA, con or more commercial needs, this might prove an interesting place to check.
    • Urban Threads describes itself as "Hip designs for hand and machine embroidery. Steampunk, gothic, tattoos, retro and more swank art. New freebies often" . Be sure to check out their facebook presence as well.
    • Valyrian Steel is " Your exclusive source of officially licensed swords from George R.R. Martin's A Song of Ice and Fire book series." If this is a potential source of costuming need and it probably should be given that George is likely going to become very popular as HBO releases a series centered around his works come 2011 on HBO. Check it out and see if this is for you.
    • Valentine Armories specialise in custom-made armor and authentic historical reproductions. Their Northwest representative also indicates that they do rentals. The rep also indicates they will have a presence at Rustycon and Norwescon.
    • Vintage Steampunk is a vendor of jewelry appropriate for steampunk fashion and costuming. Visit their facebook page for more information.
    • Whovian Jewelry and their designer describe their mission as follows: " As a designer/jeweller and Doctor Who Geek , it's my endeavor to create a range of tasteful Doctor Who inspired jewellery." You can also check out their facebook presence for additional info.
    • Wizard and Warlock Tatooing is a one person show with a facebook page and a phone and is just starting up in the Bellevue area. Check out his photos of some of his body art and see if it is of interest.
    • Your Dressmaker is much as it sounds for the period ensamble seeker from Civil War back to Midieval and Renaissance dresses, head pieces and more. For additional information visit their facebook page.
Art and Galleries of interest to fandom
    • Browser's Art and Fantasy Art is a Kent, Washington located source for fantasy art. If you are interested check it out and let us know either on Facebook or by feeback on suggestions. However, on first blush looks good.
    • Deviant Art is a web portal/forum/community that describes itself as follows: " DeviantART was created to entertain, inspire, and empower the artist in all of us. Founded in August 2000, deviantART is the largest online social network for artists and art enthusiasts with over 13 million registered members, attracting 35 million unique visitors per month." Be sure to check out their facebook presence as well for more information if this might be right for you. 
    • Moongarden Art Store is an online family operated store out of Dayton Washington. They carry many items including dragon, fairy, items as well as garden statuary and chimes, native american items, as well as candle and incense holders.
    • Polymorph Digital Photography specializes in creating personalized art from your snapshots, or stop by and we can take the picture. Specializing in Science Fiction and Fantasy, available as photo quality prints, coffee mugs, photo IDs, and more.
    • Slawek's SF Art Galleries is a great place to search for Fannish Art.


Gaming
    • Air Steampunk is all things related to Air RPG in the steampunk genre. Also, check out their facebook presence for additional info.
    • Columbia Games is a Blaine, Washington based makers of rpg, fantasy, historical, and strategy games.
    • Cthulhu Live or the H.P.Lovecraft Historical Society is "a live-action roleplaying game created in 1984, based on the gothic horror fiction of seminal American pulp writer H. P. Lovecraft." You can also check out their facebook presence for additional info.
    • Dragon's Trove is an online resource for those interested in out of print role playing games. You can also find out more by visiting their facebook page.
    • Interactive Imagination are the creaters of Magi-Nation and have other products in development. They are based out of Seattle Washington.
    • Merylyn's Fantasy, SciI and Games is Spokane based gaming store that recently (December, 2004) became a merger of Merlyn's Gaming and Getaway Games.
    • New Dimension Games is a gaming company that describes itself as being 'A fledging Seattle-based company is breathing new life into role-playing with new games, new genres, and new methods of making RPGs more vivid and involving for the role-player and the rule-player alike' Check their web site for more details.
    • Runes of Magic is an MMO with the announced teaser on the main page to play for free. However, to add the features to the game that you might want or need for a pleasurable experience can add up. Still, an attractive interface and possibly a good experience.
    • Wizards of the Coast is now a subsidiary of a much larger toy company. However, it will always be known as a local pacific northwest phenoman in the gaming industry. Check out their web site for lots more.
    • Wizkids Inc.. was founded in July 2000 by 25-year industry veteran and award-winning game designer Jordan Weisman. His goal was to develop a game that made it easy to begin playing traditional miniatures games, and he focused his efforts on creating games that were both affordable and playable right out of the box.
    • Ye Old Games and Collectibles describes itself as Kitsap County's Social Gaming Store. Located in Silverdale, Washington, if you are interested in face to face gaming then this could be a store for you. They can also be found on a separate facebook page.
    • Wizards.com's Dungeons and Dragons Events page gives those into D&D the pre-eminent search site to find a store near you where you can find eveything you need as well as resources to get started as a player or DM. And for just find out about D&D itself go to their home page.
