2009 SFN / NWSFS Election Results
The counting of the ballots for the 2009 SFN / NWSFS Election took place today at a SFN / NWSFS Business Meeting at the Overlake Round Table Pizza in Bellevue WA.
41 ballots were received either via mail, or handed in at the June NWSFS Picnic or today's meeting. Of those ballots, 7 were invalid due to not having any identification, either member number and/or name on them. Below are the election results based on the remaining 34 valid ballots, with the vote tallies listed below the winner for each position:
2009 SFN / NWSFS Chair - Michael Citrak:
Michael Citrak - 32 votes received
Doug Booze - 1 write in vote received
Eric Pawtowski - 1 write in vote received
2009 SFN / NWSFS Vice Chair - Shawn Marier:
Shawn Marier - 24 votes received
Michael Ormes - 9 write in votes received
Daniel Pawtowski - 1 write in vote received
2009 SFN / NWSFS Treasurer - Bill Boyde:
Bill Boyde - 33 votes received
Yvonne Pawtowski - 1 write in vote received
Cherie Playter received a write in vote for Vice Chair, and Doug Booze also received a write in vote for Treasurer, but unfortunately those ballots were not valid due to the lack of a member number and/or name on the ballot envelope as required.
It was also interesting to note that long time write in favorite "My Left Foot" did not receive any votes this year, but Frankenstein received a write in vote for Chair and Thumbalina received a write in vote for Vice Chair. Unfortunately (or fortunately) neither person or creature is a member of NWSFS, and the ballot was invalid due to a lack of ID.
Congratulations to Michael Citrak, Shawn Marier, and Bill Boyde, and many thanks to all who participated in this years elections.
Cheers,
Jim Cox

This is to announce that there is now a new component of our site known as sfnorthwest the Blog - Check out the page and let us know what you think of the entries and web logs I make and more importantly feedback on the new look and direction of Northwest Science Fiction Resources in general. While it has been a while since my first attempt at a blog entry I plan to start in the coming week (first week in February 2009) to have a new blog entry and will follow up on a monthly or more often ruminations on all things sfnorthwest. My preliminary thoughts for this entry are to meditate on the impact of recent economic events on local fandom and other thoughts about media SF in the past year and what is coming up.

PDXgamers · Portland Area Games Workshop Players
Welcome to the Portland Area Games Workshop Players email
list. We are set out to unify the disparate groups in the Portland
Area. Our target audience is dedicated players who enjoy playing
Games Workshop products. This list is for the discussion of ALL
Games Workshop wargames. To clarify that is Warhammer 40k (all
editions), Warhammer (all editions), Space Fleet, Space Hulk
(all editions), Battlefleet Gothic, Man O' War, Epic 40K, Mordheim,
Necromunda, Bloodbowl (all editions) and Warmaster, Inquisitor
and basically anything connected to the 'GW Hobby' as we like
to call it. Sensible discussion preferable but not compulsory...
We are an open board game discussion forum which includes individual gamer enthusiasts as well as members of various game groups in the Portland/Vancouver area and surrounding areas (nearby parts of OR and WA). The list is patterned after other successful "coalescent" gaming entities such as Unity Games and the SoCal Gaming groups. It is aimed at discussing board and card games with the emphasis is on German/Euro/Designer style boardgames (Settlers of Catan, Acquire, Euphrat & Tigris, Union Pacific, Carabande, etc) but "classic" boardgames and dexterity games (like Crokinole) are discussed and played as well. It also serves as a meeting place to find open game events where you can play and allows local gamers to keep in touch with each other. This will hopefully serve as both a forum and a resource for interested board/card/dexterity gamers in the area. Enjoy!
Discussion group for gamers in the "heart of the Willamette valley" region
of Oregon: Corvallis, Albany, Lebanon, Salem, etc. We meet to play board games
mostly, but also enjoy card games, wargames, group games, and other formats.
